Biography
Jiaming Lai, Jimmy, is a 3rd year Biochemical Engineering Major student. He started at UC Davis in Fall of 2023. Some background information about Jimmy that related to this field is his internship in the summer of 2025. Jimmy worked at one of the largest waste water treatment plant back at his hometown in Hangzhou as a construction management intern. In this experience he supported and oversees the improvement project on-site, and also get the chance to learn about treatment processes like AAO, MBBR, and other advanced clarification systems. Seeing how these systems come together at full scale expanded Jimmy’s thinking about water treatment design as a whole. Jimmy will try and learn as much as possible in the field of waste water treatment with the hope to become an expert in this field and contribute to society. Outside of research, Jimmy loves all kinds of sports. He enjoys basketball, running, tennis and swimming. Jimmy’s favorite thing about Davis is the ARC and the arboretum.
