Shanza Syed

Biography

Shanza Syed is a second-year Environmental Engineering major from the Bay Area who began her studies at UC Davis in Fall 2024. Her background in environmental advocacy with Heirs to Our Ocean led her to join ASUCD's Environmental Policy and Planning Commission, where she works to further campus sustainability goals. She is particularly interested in water quality and water system managment, having experienced the impacts of water scarcity firsthand during trips back home to India, which is what motivated her to join the Water-Nexus Lab. Outside of academics she is an editor for Morning Sign Out at UC Davis and a member of the Karate Club. When she's not studying you can find her reading, watercoloring, hiking, or fueling her caffeine addiction at one of Davis' many coffee shops.
